I have stared at the picture for about 10 minutes now, and can’t see any reason for embarrassment. I should probably be the one embarrassed for trying so hard, though!
LOL… while this photo is of me, it is from a few months ago and I included it for illustration purposes. I have a random sense of humor, and have smartass tendencies. Somedays I wonder “what if I just tried to be more quiet, talk LESS…” Like I said, I often feel embarrassed by my own quirkiness… if only I could be more demure.
Did I mention I am a “jack-of-all-trades”? (master of none? LOL) Mom, student, daughter, girlfriend? Hmmm, yeah… I recall many years ago my mother warned me that the baby years were the easiest and that as the kids get older they end up needing you more. Well, as usual, my mother was right. On the other side of the wooded buffer, behind our subdivision, is a failed subdivision development. There are absolutely no houses, just a paved road, large pond and plenty of people-free and traffic-free room to quietly walk the dogs. Today, I took Olivia on my daily dog-pack walk. When we arrived on the other side [...]
At the beginning of the school year, Olivia’s teacher requested we send in snacks every day in addition to sending lunch so the kids could have an afternoon snack. I typically send a granola bar or specifically Clif bars and a gatorade or bottle of water. Being the often absent-minded mom, I occasionally forget to [...]
This is the face of my lazy child at 6:50am. Sprawled out on the livingroom floor, not the least bit interested in getting ready for school. If only she had listened to me when I said “go to sleep,” last night!

Holding the fresh baked cookie in front of her non-verbal autistic child, the mother wondered how long she could hold out waiting for a verbal response from her child.Alas, the mother did not have the endurance. The child waited in silence. The mother [...]
It is easy to take simple actions for granted, but one must consider all the physiological integrations of the nervous system that are required to do the simplest of actions, even something as simple as maintaining muscle tone for the sake of posture. Between last Christmas and June, Olivia destroyed 2 electronic toy keyboards. Why? [...]
I just HAVE to get this posted tonight. I am just delighted to share this video. Olivia had an appointment with a developmental specialist in Atlanta today, and because of conflicts with my schedule, my parents were gracious enough to make the 4 hour (one way) drive with Olivia. They just got home around 11:00pm, [...]
