Playing After Dark

John is here this weekend, and last evening and this evening we headed out to explore the back roads of the county in search of a good photo opportunity. By the time we reached our destination, last night, the sky was already getting pretty dark. However, in the words of John’s support-team (Faye), “never miss an opportunity to learn something or practice taking a shot.”
We went to a cluster of run-down farm buildings out in the middle-of-no-where, just as the sun was going down. I unfortunately do not have a tripod, so I tried my darndest to get at least a decent shot… John, with his tripod and super cool new camera was able to captured the firey red sunset behind the buildings.

Tonight we headed out on a road behind my house and found a creek and bridge. We got there just as the sun was going down. I took my first batch of shots by hand, and then John generously handed over the tripod as the mosquitos were starting to bite. Yippee, my first time with a tripod. What a difference it makes. These are all just practice shots, and again I’ve finally ventured into full manual mode on my camera…. whoo hoo… does that mean I need to include photo data now with my shots? Maybe I will, maybe there’s a photo-guru out there who wants to chime in. Or not.
Oh, don’t let me forget to post about the battle of lice (AGAIN) this past week, and our sludgy afternoon in the boat. (oops, gotta watch out for that mud.)

Yippee, Faye gets her hands on the tripod. Creek and bridge, somewhere between Ebenezer and Springfield, Effingham county, (15", f7.1, 34mm, iso200)

a little night-light, during my 20 second exposure a car drove across the bridge, thus eluminating the railings for me. (20", f9.0, 33mm, iso200)
Awesome shots
