I’ve dealt with somewhat similar circumstances. The kids learn that different people have different spending habits. Plus, they probably don’t have as many toys and things when they’re away to begin with. I’m assuming most of the toys stayed in their permanent home. Add to that the fact that they only see the others about four days a month, and the fact that those others want to make up for lost time == new toys.

Plus, “needing something is different than wanting something,” or “no, we can’t afford it,” or simply “stop asking,” works fine too.
