Another day another dog… or two…
So, I think the boxer showed up after my previous post about the neighborhood doggies always finding me…He was hanging out in my neighbor’s yard across the street a few days ago, and I figured he belonged to their friend that was there. He wandered over, licked me, sprawled out on my driveway as I was once again loading the crew into the Odyssey. I went inside, and came back out, and my neighbors were pulling out and drove off, all the while the boxer is running down the street. So, he obviously didn’t belong to the friends. The problem for me was that he had no tags, and again, I was on the way out. Well, from the looks of his super leather collar, I figured he was a beloved animal, and his owners were probably looking for him, just at that moment.
Fast forward a few days; as I was backing out this morning, I looked up in my yard, and there was the fawn beauty again. Gosh what a gorgeous animal… I am assuming that he does indeed live in the neighborhood, somewhere. So, I wasn’t too concerned about returning him. I figured he’d make it home in one piece.
Then this afternoon, on my return from Speech Therapy, the white husky mix named Storm is bounding through my yard. In and out of bushes. Leaping into the air, pawing me and my beloved coat. This dog belongs to some neighbors on the opposite cul-de-sac, and the poor animal is left out on a lead all day every day. She was in my yard once about 4 months ago at like 12 o’clock AM!!! I wasn’t absolutely sure who she belonged to at the time, but like the good doggie citizen that I am, I went out in the yard at midnight, gathered the pooch by her collar, and marched on down to her house. A man was sitting in his garage talking on the phone and sipping beer, and it took several “eh hem, excuse me.. ” to get his attention… I said, “is this your dog?”, and the man said, “oh, Storm, you ran off?” ugh! Pay attention to your animals, PEOPLE! So, yes, this dear Storm was once again in my yard today, She is FULL of energy, (probably because she’s left on the lead all day), I wrangled her up, and finally the female owner wandered up to take her. Sigh. She is a beautiful dog. Her name suits her too. It’s just a shame that some people can’t figure out that perhaps they’re not suited to have a pet.
